A former owner of one of the UK's best independent hotels, a Michelin-starred restaurant and Tatler's best UK spa. Jill is someone who has been at the sharp end of the luxury hotel market. A hotelier by trade, but now preferring a quieter life, she decided to leave behind the stress of the hotel industry and spend more time in her garden and with her grandchildren.

The idea of a garden room stemmed from wanting a place in her garden to relax and get away from the comings and goings of the house, as well as enjoy views of the surrounding countryside.

Having always admired the wooden buildings at RHS Wisley, she set about sourcing materials to build her own garden building. Starting with air dried oak, which conveniently comes from a long established saw mill close to the Cowdray Estate, she then went on to source metal cladding which has been used to great effect for other buildings.

He took the decision to step away from corporate life in 2015 to pursue other opportunities and new ventures.

Coming from a family of builders and with a long standing interest in houses and gardens he decided to set up a property development business in 2016, undertaking projects in London. His knowledge of construction, building, planning and design come in very handy!

So a marriage made in heaven one might say... and having constructed their own 'Hyde away' it was only a matter of time before friends and family started asking them to construct a similar building in their gardens! And so began Hut & Hyde.
